Container cargo restrictions
Saudi Arabian ports will not accept from May 24 containers holding certain types' of goods. Goods affected include timber and plywood, steel structures, cars, heavy machinery weighing more than 2000 kg, and building materials. These goods may still be Shipped to the kingdom's ports by conventional methods such as palletised cargo.. The N.Y.K. Line, which runs a service from New Zealand to Saudi Arabia, has said it will not be able to accept the restricted goods unless they are packed in pallets or units. The Saudi Ports Authority has made this new ruling so that it can speed up the handling of cargo at its ports.
