Twice-weekly flights to Hobart now by TAA
Trans Australia Airlines, which now maintains the Christchurch-Hobart “connection” on its own, will provide the only mid-week air link between Christchurch and Australia (on Wednesday’s) from April 1. As there will be no Air New Zealand or Qantas flights to Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane that day, TAA expects its Wednesday service to Hobart will prove a boon to businessmen. The airline provides a same-day connection from Hobart to Melbourne.
Following Ansett’s withdrawal from the Tasman route two weeks ago, TAA has taken over the Wednesday service as well as continuing to maintain its original Saturday flights. During the past 14 months the airline has carried more than 12,000 passengers at an average load factor of 60 per cent. Both first class and economy class travel is provided with meals and a bar service.
