Bus leaves road

A south bound Newmans bus left State Highway 1. 2km north of Amberley, early on Saturday morning and came to rest in a culvert. injuring four passengers and the driver. The injured passengers, all women, and the driver. Mr M. W. Botham, of Blenheim, were taken to Christchurch Hospital by two St John Ambulances’ from Rangiora. Those injured were treated for cuts and bruises and discharged. Four other passengers were unhurt. Constable J. G. R. McClung, the Amberley policeman, said last evening that the combined passenger

and freight bus had been badly damaged in the accident’ The bus had left Picton at 10.20 p.m. after meeting the Cook Strait ferry, and had crashed just before 3 a.m.. said Constable McClung.
