Wheelchair Service stops
-.The wheelchair ambulance service of the St John Ambulance Association in Christchurch has been discontinued. The chairman of the Christchurch sub-centre, Mr G. R. Gray, said in. his annual report that “after very careful consideration of the decreasing workload” the service: had been stopped. The ambulance, which was equipped with a hydraulic hoist on the back to lift wheelchairs, was being used only to carry patients on two days of the week. The St. John Ambulance Association, had transferred it to the North Canterbury Hospital. Board which was using it for hospital patients.
