Police seek help with fire-bomb inquiries
The Rangiora police would like to hear from anybody who saw a vehicle acting in a suspicious manner in Kaiaooi about midnight on Wednesday, shortly before a house was fire-bombed. Two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the house of a Ministry of Transport officer in the township, just after midnight. There was no damage.
One of the fire-bombs landed on the roof of the house and bounced down on to the guttering. The other exploded on the back lawn. A small fire on the lawn was quickly put out. Five people were in the house at the time. All were uninjured, although shaken.
