Message for Jesuits
Pope John Paul has urged leaders of the powerful Jesuit religious order, known for its liberalism, to stay out of politics and stick to tradition in work and teaching. “The necessary concern tor justice must be exercised in conformity with your vocation as priests and brothers," the Pope told provincials and other officials of the Society of Jesus. He also announced that the Jesuits would hold a meeting this year to choose a new chief and to help the order “carry out its mission with renewed spirit.” — Vatican City.
