General forecast: A ridge of high pressure extending across New Zea ; land from an intense anticyclone should bring fine weather to the North Island and to the north-east of the South Island. The cold front over the South Island should become slow-moving and much weaker, with scattered outbreaks of rain especially on the West Coast. District forecasts: Canterbury: North-westerlies, strong inland and often fresh and gusty about the coast; continuing fine and warm with increasing high cloud.
Nelson, Marlborough: Fine and warm, with fresh northerly or northwesterly winds. Buller: Cloudy and mild with scattered showers; moderate northerlies. Westland: Northerlies, fresh at times in exposed places; cloudy and mild with rain in the south and scattered falls elsewhere. Outlook: Showers in the far north of the North Island, on the West Coast, and in the far south of the South Island; mainly fine elsewhere.
