Fishing boats delayed

NZPA staff correspondent London Minor teething troubles delayed the sailing of two l£rge New Zealand-bound ,trawlers from the port of Hull at the week-end. The Otago Buccaneer, one of two 1685-tonne sister ships bought by Fletcher Fishing, sailed as scheduled on Saturday afternoon, but got only 23 miles before being halted by a pump failure. Repairs were carried out over-night while the trawler anchored in the Humber estuary and she eventually sailed late on Sunday. The second trawler, the Otago Galliard, has been delayed in Hull while she waits for conveyor equipment to arrive from Germany. Fletcher’s British representative, Mr John Iles, said yesterday that he expected the ship to sail today.

The trawlers have been sold in a package which includes 60 Hull fishermen who will pass on expertise to New Zealand fishermen.
