Christchurch runner third
NZPA-Reuter Nagoya, Japan A Christhurch runner,. Mary O'Connor, finished third in an international women's 20 kilometre road race in Nagoya yesterday, behind Cathie Toomey, of the United States. Miss O'Connor’s. time was Ihour 9min 3s and a lot slower
than Miss Toomey's winning time of one hour six minutes 52 seconds. Second was Japan’s Akemi Masuda in 1:06:55. Miss Toomey outsprinted Miss Masuda in the final 1.5 km to beat a field of 35 runners, including four from outside Japan.
