Smithfield market
New Zealand lamb prices steadied on the United Kingdom wholesale market last week after a period of weakening prices, the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board reports in its weekly market survey. Prices for domestic beef and lamb have remained practically unchanged in recent weeks. On the Smithfield market PL and PM grade New Zealand lamb was quoted at 65.5-67.0 per lb. Prices eased slightly on the United States imported
beef market last . week. Manufacturing cow beef was quoted at 102.5 United States cents per lb elf., and bull at 111.0 United States cents per lb. Little activity was reported on the Japanese mutton market last week. The only sales of New Zealand mutton were made from stocks not owned by the board. MLI grade was nominally quoted at 62.0 United States cents per lb c. and f.
