Farmers’ S.M.P.s
Sir,—My late father was a farmer who worked hard without any government help in times of hardship. Many farmers today' have the attitude they are the only ones keeping the country going. Where would they be without the city worker? They would be using horses instead of tractors. My husband and I work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, 50 weeks a year including all public holidays in our business. We do not get any government help when changing over our vehicle, which brings in our sole income. The farmers should do the same hours without their hands out to the Government, then they would know the satisfaction it brings knowing you own your own .business and home from sheer hard work. Instead of buying new boats and cars with their S.M.P.s they could employ an unemployed worker.—Yours, etc., R. MITCHELL. March 5, 1982.
