National lottery

PA Auckland The Spirit of Adventure Trust Board is running a national lottery next month to help pay for the youth training ship’s $lOB,OOO loss last year. The chairman of the board, Mr Steven Fisher, son of the Auckland industrialist. Mr Lou Fisher, who provided the vessel, said there was a $lOO difference between the cost of sending a student on a 10-

day cruise and the fee charged. “We have tried to keep fees as reasonable as possible. To do this we need to have a lottery every year to make up the difference.” Mr Fisher said the board was considering selling the nine-year-old 3-metre schooner and replacing it with a larger vessel that could cater for more pupils. He said no definite plans had been made but it was “probable” there would be a new Spirit of Adventure.
