A senior executive of Air New Zealand received the Pacific .Area Travel Association's highest award yesterday. Mr M. A. Ramsden, general manager (commercial) of the airline, was made a life member in recognition of 20 years of service to ■P.A.T.A. Mr Ramsden, a former president and board member, has missed only one conference in the last 19 years. In 1976 he was awarded the association’s Award of Merit for contributions to tourism in New Zealand and the Pacific.
Mr Ramsden has played a leading role in the industry’s development. He is a Gov-ernment-appointed member of the Tourism Advisory Committee, the Transport Advisory Council, an executive member of the National Travel Association, and a past president of the New Zealand Institute of Management and the New Zealand Institute of Travel. In 1977,
he was chairman of the promotion and marketing committee for the review of tourism.
A former executive with the National Airways Corporation, Mr Ramsden was appointed to his present position with Air New Zealand after the merger in 1978.
