Protesters found guilty at Nelson
Nelson reporter Three anti-Springbok tour protesters were found guilty on all six counts against them by a jury of nine women and three men in the High Court at Nelson yesterday afternoon. Mr Justice Savage remanded them for sentence to Wellington on February 19. The three. Erin Margaret Baker, aged 20, a radiographer, of Christchurch. Oliver Edward Bullmore. aged 20, a student, of Dunedin, and John David Bridges, aged 29, a painter and paperhanger of Christchurch, were involved in an anti-tour demonstration in the Hotel Rutherford, Nelson, on August 22. The jury retired at 11.30 alm. yesterday after his Honour had summed up. returning with the six guilty ver-
diets at 5.05 p.m. Baker was charged with being in possession of explosives except for a lawful purpose and with throwing an explosive with reckless disregard for the safety of police officers on duty at the Hotel Rutherford. Bullmore was charged on two counts of throwing some injurious device with reckless disregard for the safety of police officers, and Bridges was charged with throwing an explosive with reckless disregard for the safety of police officers and with being in possession of an explosive except for some lawful purpose. Mr R. B. Squires was Crown prosecutor. Mr A. E. Webber appeared for Bullmore and Bridges, and Mr M. J. Knowles (Christchurch) for Baker.
