Jail term increased

NZPA Brisbane A man convicted of having thrown acid over his wife’s face had his sentence increased yesterday by the Court of Criminal Appeal in a sequel to the so-called “Lady in the Mask” case. . Garnet Nelson, aged 57, formerly of New Zealand, was sentenced to another four years jail, taking his total term'to 10 years, after an appeal by the Crown prosecutor that the original sentence was inadequate. Last year the trial drew national attention when Mrs Marie Nelson, aged 38, appeared in Brisbane’s Supreme Court in a surgical mask which she removed to show her facial injuries caused by the acid.
