Gardens curator resigns
The Botanic Gardens curator, Mr Alan Jolliffe, has resigned to become parks and recreation superintendent for the 'Nelson City Council. Mr Jolliffe has told the Christchurch City Council that he will be leaving this month. He started his career with the council as a parks and recreation department horticultural apprentice in 1971 and was appointed to his present position in 1977. He received a travelling scholarship in 1979, and gained a master’s degree in recreation after a year of study in the United States.
Councillors were told that he had made a significant contribution to the Botanic Gardens in research and education.
