Nurse found dead
PA Wellington An occupational nurse was found dead on Tuesday evening a few hours after he had been convicted in the District Court in Wellington of obtaining a hospital job with false qualifications. He was Desmond James Searle, aged 31. The police told a press conference yesterday that a man was found dead from carbon-monoxide poisoning in a car on Wellington’s south coast. (
Earlier yesterday, Mr Searle’s case was recalled in court and the charge withdrawn after the prosecutor, Sergeant lan Carmichael, said Mr Searle had died overnight. The Court heard on Tuesday how Mr Searle used false Canadian qualifications to get the job of nursing supervisor in Wellington Hospital’s accident and emergency department. Mr Searle had been remanded at large for sentence on February 16.
