Take Care looks set to win again at Addington

By

G. K. YULE

Take Care, one of the star performers at the recent Forbury Park festival meeting, looks set to carry on her winning way in the Bryan Register Handicap at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway tomorrow evening. The talented daughter of El Patron equalled the track record for 2700 m when she was successful in the T.H.C. Four : year-old Championship Final last Saturday. She has now won seven times and will start from 10m tomorrow, a handicap unlikely to prove prohibitive in a field of moderate strength. Perhaps the hardest for Take Care to beat will be another mare in Regal Cheval. Her seventh over 2000 m on January 15 at her latest start can be overlooked when assessing her prospects as she received a rocky run. She looks favourably placed on the front and will- only have to produce one of her peak efforts to take a prominent part in the finish. The Sting broke through for an overdue win three starts back. He has had a fifth and a second behind Royal Decision at his two starts since then and will only have to race up to those efforts to be in the thick of the finish. Remote, a winner over one mile at Forbury Park last Saturday. Amaze and Velebit appeal most of the others, but forward showings by Ariemore. Eden’s Joy and Dryden Amanda will not surprise. Much interest in the second leg, the Cross Stakes, will centre on the first race start at Addington of a highly-rated young pacer in Lopez Song. He has had a second and three successive wins from four race starts, suggesting he is one of the more capable horses of his

age in commission. He has not raced since he outclassed his rivals at Invercargill on January 13. but that should not stop him winning once more. Mel’s Boy and Portfolio must be two of the leading contenders and they will run Lopez Song close. Guest of Honour. Trilobal and Kata Hoiho should be the pick of the remainder, while Free Win must be regarded as an upset chance.
