Superannuation benefits

Sir,—My heart bleeds for those compulsorily retired on high superannuation. Without any charge or complaint laid against me, I was forcibly retired from a professional position, and, after 35 years of contributions which hurt, I now receive $2517 a year net Government. superannuation — hardly a golden handshake. My experience showed that public service in New Zealand is geared to whitewash petty corruption and dishonesty, presumably to . discredit “socialism,” with the maximum benefits for the top brass, who can do no wrong. — Yours, etc., VARIAN J. WILSON. February 2, 1982.
