Rattray quotes rise
A statement on the reasons for the “don’t sell” notice issued on Thursday by J. Rattray and Son Ltd, could be made some time next week, said the managing director, Mr C. T. A. Rattray, yesterday. Mr A. W. Barnett, the chairman of the Christchurch-based wholesale grocery group, issued a “don’t sell” notice to shareholders stating that discussions were being held which could influence the price of their shares.
A further statement would be made as soon as possible, the notice said. Mr Rattray said that he imagined that the statement would be issued some time next week. J. Rattray was quoted 240 c buy on the closing quotations on the Christchurch Invercagill Stock Exchange yesterday, compared with a sell quote of 232 c on Thursday. The last sale of the shares was at 232 c. There were no sales yesterday.
