Bowls decision

Brian McGowan and Stan Lawson, two Papanui skips who had dual bowls engagements this week-end, have decided to remain in Christchurch for the centre open pairs. Both players, along with McGowan’s lead, Keith Browning, had invitations to a major pairs tournament which began in Auckland yesterday. McGowan, one of the two two-lifers, has a bye through

the ninth round this morning. The other two-lifer, Graham Stanley (South Brighton), will meet the Christchurch'Rothmans pairs skip, Travis Coup (Kaiapoi), in what promises to be the feature match of this round. Lawson and Coup are two of the nine remaining one-lifers. Depending on how the two-lifers fare the final will be reached either late this afternoon or tomorrow morning. All games will be at Edgeware.
