Soviet cattle boost
PA Wellington The Soviet Union’s cattle population, the second biggest in the world, increased by 600.000 in 1981 to reach 115.7 million, the Central Statistical Board has announced, according to the Novosti Press Agency.
The number of cows rose 200.000 to 43.6 million and sheep totalled 142 million.
