FM notices of intent

Twenty-three notices of intent have been lodged with the Broadcasting Tribunal in Wellington, for FM commercial broadcasting licences.

The deputy registrar of the tribunal, Mr R. M. McEwen, said that four notices had been received from north and central Canterbury. They were from “The Press,’’ the "Ashburton Guardian,” Radio i. an Auckland station that has shown interest in the region, and Radio Avon. Notices from South Canterbury were from the “Ashburton Guardian,” again, and the "Timaru Herald.” The notices of intent covered 31 stations, he said. Some were including proposals for non-commercial radio. The tribunal will now establish an order for hearings, and will call for applications progressively.
