Bank robbery claim
A man, aged 22, was charged in the District Court yesterday with the aggravated robbery of an employee at. the Halswell branch of the Canterbury Savings Bank in May last year. The • defendant, Raymond David Brown, unemployed, was charged that on May 21, while armed with a .177 air pistol, he robbed Nigel James McCully of $2914. He was remanded without plea to February 4. Bail, sought by his counsel
(Mr G. Ej Langham) was declined by Judge Palmer, and the defendant was remanded in custody. TRIAL Douglas Rangi Cowan,' aged 33, a driver, elected trial by jury on a charge of breaking and entering the Winchester Post Office, in South Canterbury, on January 12. He was. remanded on bail to March 10 for the taking of
depositions, in the District Court at Timaru. He was jointly charged with another man with the alleged burglary of the post office. WOUNDING CHARGE A teacher, charged with wounding a man with reckless disregard for his safety on January 27, was remanded without plea to February 4 On bail. Interim suppression of his name was granted.
