Rufer, Herbert out

PA Auckland The New Zealand soccer stars, Wynton Rufer and Ricki Herbert, will definitely not play against Hungary next month. The New Zealand team’s manager, John Adshead, said yesterday that he did not want either player to join the team for the two matches against Hungary: “I do not want them out of the environment of English football

until May 1. They will not be here next month,” he said.

Another player who will not be available is Glenn Dods and at least two others have yet to be cleared from their Australian clubs. Mr Adshead said that Steve Sumner and Allan Boath were “still very much in doubt" because the West Adelaide club’s programme was likely to clash with the Hungarian fixtures.
