Trevira on trial in Forbury Park feature

By

G. K. YULE

Trevira. on trial for a trip to Perth to contest the InterDominion Championship series in March, will have- to be at his peak to win the Les Duff Memorial Free-for-all at Forbury Park tomorrow evening.

Having his third start after an enforced spell. Trevira showed a glimpse of his best when he made ground for second, eight lengths from Bonnie's Chance, at the end of the Ansett Free-for-all at Addington Raceway on January 4. The extra distance in this race will suit this dour stayer.

The biggest stumbling block to possible success for the Southland horse could be Sweet Jessica, a stablemate of Bonnie's Chance. Although only a C 8 horse at the time, she confirmed the high opinion held of her when she beat El Regale and some other highly-regarded pacers in the Wellington Cup on January 13. This'field could be slightly stronger than that in the Wellington Cup. but Sweet Jessica is expected to bridge the gap with competence. El Regale has drawn awkwardly, but in spite of that he should figure in the finish, while Idolmite. Quiet Win. Right Bower and The Raider will have to be considered, at least as place chances. The Humphrey Handicap, a race for four-year-olds, will be the first leg of the double.

Take Care. George Twinkle and Stortford Lodge are talented young horses expected to' be three of the leading contenders, but they can expect spirited opposition from Twilight Mist. Fouroux. Auburn Majesty. Lasting Fame and Stampede.
