Wool steady
PA Wellington The Wool Board was active at the Wellington wool sale yesterday, bidding on more than 80 per cent of the offering of 22.716 bales and having 38 per cent sold or passed to it.
Compared with the Wanganui sale on January 15, the market was quoted as similar for all types, with lambs’ wool firm.
The Wool Board supplemenation on all types was extensive with ewe wool receiving up to 20c a kilogram and oddments up to 25c a kilogram. The offering was mainly ewe and lambs' wool, the fleeces in the main showing cottiness and yellow stain. The adjusted weighted average sale price was 256.45 c a kilogram, according
to the Wool Board. Based on this a Government supplementary payment of 24.8 per cent will apply to all wool sold at the sale and all wool sold privately from midnight on Wednesday to midnight last night. Official range of prices: Ewe fleece:
