Pairs lead-spot goes to Lyn Hanger
Lyn Hanger (Burnside) has won the pairs lead position, which was wide open, in the Christchurch bowls team for the Rothmans inter-centre tournament. His skip is Travis Coup (Kaiapoi) after a break of three years. As expected, Neville Poole (Sumner) the singles champion of champions last summer. has been entrusted with the key singles position, making him the latest in a succession of players who have filled this role. The four is the established
and proven one of Peter Meier (South Brighton). Sonny Calder (Linwood). Graham Stanley (South Brighton) and Morgan Moffat (Linwood). If there is an unlucky player it would have to be the consistent Roy Bailey (Linwood), while Wally Wilkinson (Beckenham). Robin Howman (Fendalton), Bernie Johns (Christchurch) and Stan Lawson (Papanui) are others who may have been considered. The Christchurch team for the national junior inter-
centre tournament, which like the senior event begins with the zone eliminations on February 6 and 7. has also been named. The singles player is Chris Carter (Fendalton), and Pat Doig (Elmwood) will skip the pair. Doig's lead is Dave Philpott (St Albans). Noel Tomlinson (Hornby W.M.C.). who along with Carter was in the team last season, is the fours skip and he will have Stewart Buttar. Jeff Lenz (both Burnside) and George Grey (Dallington) as his partners.
