World day of prayer

Christchurch people will join those from more than 150 other countries in March to celebrate the World Day of Prayer. March 5 has been set aside as a special day of prayer and fellowship. A service written by the women of Ireland will be used. The theme will be "The people of God — gathered for worship — scattered for Service."

The New Zealand convenor. Mrs Nancy Waters, said about 30 services would be held in central and suburban Christchurch to mark the day. which has been celebrated in New Zealand for 36 years. Mrs Waters said the World Day of Prayer originated in the United States, and 1986 would be its centennial year.
