A female fitch, one of 250 recently imported from Scotland by Kewai Farms, Ltd, is held by Mr John Whetren, one of the partners in the company’s fitch farming project. The fitches, 50 males and 200 females, will be used for breeding. They have adjusted well to Marlborough’s warmer climate. The pelts of their offspring (kits), valued at up to $40 each, will be exported.
