Top M.O.W. engineer Dutch-born
Dutch-born Mr J. B. S. Huizing is the new chief civil engineer of the Ministry of Works and Development. Mr Huizing, former chief civil designing engineer, succeeded Mr A. G. Stirrat in the Wellington head office appointment. Mr Huizing's universityeducation was interrupted bydeportation to Germany and later Poland during World War 11. After the liberation, he returned to university at Delft and by 1952 was working for the Ministry of Works on the Cobb power project near Nelson. Since then he has worked on a range of projects including Wellington's urban motorway and the Hawke's Bay airport. Mr Huizing is married, with three children.
