Auckland students complain
PA Auckland The Auckland Trades Council plans to back up Auckland students who have complained about their employment scheme wages. More than 120 students held a meeting in Auckland recently to express their concern about some of the conditions of the Student Community Service Programme. Some students told the meeting that their wages had
been set at an arbitrary rate below award wages. The president of the Canterbury Trades Council, Mr W. R. Cameron, said that he was not aware of any complaint to the council by students. The assistant district superintendent of the Labour Department in Christchurch, Mr D. Poselthwaite, said that the department had received some queries
