Police quick to trace vehicle
Nelson reporter A man who allegedly bought a very distinctive vehicle from New Brighton with what the police say was a cheque from a stolen cheque book did not get much use out of the vehicle. The Nelson police were alerted from New Brighton yesterday that the man, who' had bought a yellow, customised 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck, was believed to be heading towards Nelson. The very easily identifiable vehicle was seen by a Nelson C. 1.8. patrol at Wakefield. about 25km south of Nelson, a few hours later and the driver was arrested. He will appear in the District Court at Nelson tomorrow on several charges.
