8.30: FREEBIE AND THE BEAN. New detective series set in San Francisco. The two cops race against time in the hope of providing a live witness for a grand jury investigation. 9.30: GABLE MYSTIQUE. David Sheehan explores the enduring magic of Clark Gable who never lost his, title as “King of Hollywood” and whose mystique survives 12 years after his death.
8.30: CHRISTMAS WITH SHELLEY. Two uninvited Father Christmases turn up for Christmas dinner with Shelley and Fran. 9.00: GOLDIE AND LIZA. The two vivacious American actresses Goldie Hawn and Liza Minelli appear together in this television special.
10.00: MACKENZIE. Lisa agrees to marry Jamie but is confused and unhappy about her feelings for Mackenzie. 10.55: HILL STREET BLUES. Two robbers take four hostages during a hold-up. (Repeat). 11.50: NEWS, CLOSEDOWN.
10.00: NEWS AT TEN. 10.30: THE THOUGHTS OF CHAIRMAN ALF AT CHRISTMAS. Alf Garnett’s bigotry comes to the fore during the season of goodwill to all men as he voices his thoughts on immigrants, politics, and the permissive society. 11.00: CLOSEDOWN.
