Busy week expected at port

A busy week this week has been predicted for the port of Lyttelton by the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s traffic manager, Mr D. A. Jones.

Four container ships are expected in the port this week, including the Austral Entente in the North American east coast service; the Australian Venture, in the European cellular-con-tainer service; the Southland Star, serving the west coast of North America; and the New Zealand Star, which is destined to sail for the Middle East.

In addition, the Ngakuta will be in the port discharging newsprint. the Holmdsale will be back for the holidays loading and discharging cargo for the Chatham Islands, the Strathmeigle will discharge cargo from the Middle East, the Nedlloyd Frazer will discharge cargo and take on a load in the South African service, the Coastal Trader will make her usual two visits, the Onehunga will discharge cargo and then proceed to dry dock, the Waitaki will arrive in its new trans-Tasman service, the Nedlloyd Amsterdam will discharge cargo and load cargo for South-East Asia, and the Sunda Career will be back to take on another export shipment of coal for Japan.
