Aircraft destroyed
pA Wellington A small, unoccupied aircraft was destroyed by fire on the tarmac at Napier Airport last evening. The airport was closed and the aircraft, an Air Central Cessna 402, was stationary when the fire began.
The eight-seater aircraft was valued at $178,000. It was Air Central’s second aircraft mishap in a week. Last week, another of its fleet crashed through a fence at Palmerston North airport. Last month, an aircraft destined for Air Central crashed on its delivery flight near Pago Pago.
