Heart group’s new head
An Auckland company director, Mr J. D. 0. Ellis, has been elected president of the National Heart Foundation. He succeeds Mr R. F. Ballantyne, of Christchurch. Mr. Ellis joined the foundation as a founding member in 1969 and is also chairman of the foundation’s Auckland regional committee. “While New Zealand is making some progress to reduce the incidence of heart disease there is still a need to fund important research and support public health education programmes,” said Mr Ellis. “I would like to see increased activity in these areas during my three-year term as president."
