Arundel crash victims named
The Ashburton police yesterday named a couple who died after a van they were driving and a car collided at an intersection on State highway 72, about 3km north of the Arundel bridge, on Wednesday. There were David Petrie Souter, aged 69;
and Catherine Elizabeth Souter, aged 65, both of 6 Westby Street, Waltham,
Christchurch. Two passengers in the car were admitted to Ashburton Hospital. John Graham Tod, aged 46, of Orari Bridge, was later transferred to the Christchurch Hospital where he is described as being in a serious condition. Buck Tod, aged seven, was yesterday in the Ashburton Hospital, and was reported in a comfortable condition. The driver of the car, Tau
Henare Kapa, aged 39, of Orari Bridge, was treated for injuries at the scene of the accident.
Two young children. Lynley Tod and Graham Tod, also suffered minor injuries.
