Highly successful tour

The Queensland under-15 water polo team concluded a highly successful tour of New Zealand in Christchurch yesterday with an 8-4 win against a combined Canter-bury-Wellington side.

It was the closest of the tourists’ matches against teams of a similar age. Its only losses were to a virtual Auckland senior team, 3-6, and to the strong Canterbury under-18 team (the match called off after three-quar-ters).

Otherwise, Queensland beat under-15 teams from Rotorua, Wellington (four games), Canterbury (three games), Otago and Southland. Its wins against CanterburyWellington were by 11-4, 13-4 and 8-4.

The goal-scorers for Queensland yesterday were Martin O’Brien (three), Richie Sherwell (two), Greg McKinnon (two) and Lee Crisp. Simpson (two), Alan Dickey and Andrew Lewis scored for Canterbury-Well-ington.
