Saliba faces inquiry

NZPA London Another French trainer, Mitri Saliba, is to face a Jockey Club dope inquiry following a positive test on Hilal, runner up to To-Agouri-Mou in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on September 26. It was announced last week that top French trainer, Francois Mathet, will also face an inquiry after the Aga Khan's Vayrann was positively tested following his victory in the Champion stakes at Newmarket on October 17. The two inquiries could further harm Anglo-French racing relations which were aggravated at Epsom in June when the Derby field was started while the French-trained Lydian had still to enter the stalls. The last major dope inquiry involving a French trainer concerned the 1976 victories of Trepan, trained by Francois Boutin, in the Prince of Wales Stakes at ■ Royal Ascot and the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. Saliba trains Green Forest, the top-rated European two-year-old of 1981. ■
