Hire-purchase sales up
Hire purchase is becoming a more attractive way of buying household and personal goods for New Zealanders. The total value of hirepurchase sales for the September quarter of 1981 was 10 per cent higher than for the quarter last year. Although this increase was less than the rate of inflation, two areas showed larger increases.
Household and personal goods, including television sets, bought on hire purchase were up almost 20 per cent. Hire purchases of buses, trucks, and tractors increased by more than 22 per cent. ' ■ ■
