Shergar horse of year

NZPA-Reuter London hergar, the Aga Khan's colt which won this year’s English Derby by a record 10 lengths, has been voted the 1981 Horse of the Year in a poll of British racing journalists. Shergar also won the Irish Sweeps Derby and the King George Vi and Queen Elizabeth Diamond. Stakes, as well as two early-season races.
