Frazier forced to draw
NZPA-Reuter Chicago The former world heavyweight champion. Joe Frazier has made an uncertain start on the comeback trail when he battled to a bruising 10-round draw against tough, but little-known, opponent Jumbo Cummings. Frazier, who will be 38 next month ynd had not fought for more than five years, put on a gallant display against his 30-year-old opponent.
"Smokin Joe." whose long purple trunks failed to disguise a bulging midrif, took some heavy body punishment in the first three rounds. But in the foursh round his previously shaky liming suddenly improved and he began catching Cummings with solid left hands. However, in the eighth round Cummings, a convicted murderer who only began fighting pipfessionallv in 1979 after 12 years in jail, suddenly came to life.
