Looking ahead

The biggest capital project at the Arts Centre in the foreseeable future will be the conversion of the boilerhouse into a tavern. A liquor licence has been granted, and although the project is still at the costing stage, it is expected to be completed by late next year. The Arts Centre director, Mr Ray Sleeman. says the important thing now is to promote awareness of what the centre has to offer. The administration is producing 40,000 or more copies of a brochure in January, to

be distributed in public libraries, hotels, motels and plcpwhprp Also towards the end of January, the centre will be starting a subscription scheme for discounts, priority bookings and a monthly newsletter. Mr Sleeman hopes to see the centre used increasingly for trade exhibitions and small conferences, and a computerised mailing list is being built up to enable the centre to become an information resource for arts and community activities city-wide.
