Correspondence television
Television will take teachers into the homes of about 1200 Correspondence School pupils throughout New Zealand this morning. For an hour from 9.30 a.m. the first of four pilot educational programmes made especially for correspondence pupils will be screened on TVI. The venture was described by the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) and the Min-
ister of Broadcasting (Mr Cooper) as a historic step in educational television and an important part of the Government’s plan to assist pupils in rural areas. The remaining three programmes will be screened in the first term next year. They have been devised by Correspondence School staff with technical assistance from Television New Zealand.
