‘War Artist’

After nearly 35 years. Peter Mclntyre has gathered together his paintings from World War II and produced the book “War Artist.” The book is published by A. H. and A. W. Reed, and costs $29.95. Commissioned as an official war artist by General F'reyberg, Peter Mclntyre was witness to all the major battles fought by the 2nd New Zealand Division in the Middle East and Italy, and enjoyed the privilege of observing the whole spectrum of army life. Conditions were far from ideal for an artist. His studios were the backs ol trucks, the trenches and the dust-filled mess tents of the desert. "War Artist" recaptures the war as he experienced it. with more than 75 line drawings and 44 oils.
