Fund-raising effort
NZPA London A rugby team has saved its Easter “end-of-season-tour” by donating their services to a sperm bank at Birmingham. Seven of the players from the rugby club at Aston University have signed up for an artificial insemination clinic paying $ll for sperm donations. The team, now called
“Dad’s Army” by their opposition, lost $4500 in grants as part of university economy cuts. This put its Easter tour in doubt until the magnificent seven stepped forward. They expect to collect $22 a week which will be paid into the club’s deposit account. The sperm will be kept on ice for up to two years waiting for suitable mothers.
