Trophies for wines
PA Auckland Trophies for the best wines of the year have been presented by the Governor-Gen-eral (Sir David Beattie) and Lady Beattie at the Wine Institute . awards dinner in ■ Auckland. The awards were based on points scored in the national wine competition. They were: ' White table wine, current vintage: Robard and Butler Gewurztraminer. ■ Dry or medium white table > wine, older.. Red table wine: Te Mata cabernet sauvignon 1980. Red table wine, quantity production: Nobilo cabernet sauvignon 1978. Sherry; Montana pale dry. Port: Cooks vintage 1975’. Highest average points in commercial categories: Vidals. Export: Babich pinotage-cabernet 1977. Best fortified wine: Cooks vintage port 1975. Best table wine: Cooks Chardonnay 1980.
