Air N.Z. chief known this week
PA Auckland The new chief executive of Air New Zealand will be announced by the airline before the end of the week. A meeting of the Air New Zealand board in Auckland yesterday assessed the short list of applicants for the post, but the matter was not completed, said the board’s chairman, Mr C. W. Mace. The post of chief executive has been vacant since the resignation in May of Mr M. R. Davis,, although Mr J. B.
Wisdom, the deputy chief executive, who is to retire soon, has been filling the position. Mr Mace said last evening that while the board had considered the appointment yesterday, there were still loose ends to tie up. A formal announcement would be made “later in the week.” Two executives from the head office of the airline in Auckland, one from the Christchurch office, and one from Britain were on the short list for the job, he said.
