General forecast: Some showers are expected in Northland and Gisborne. Elsewhere mainly fine apart from a few cloudy areas, and isolated afternoon showers about the ranges. However, a weak cold front is expected to move on to the south of the South Island in the afternoon accompanied by showers and a southwesterly wind change. District forecasts:
Canterbury: North-easterlies, fresh about the coast, but moderate northerlies
prevailing inland; mild inland. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller: Mainly fine and mild, but isolated afternoon showers about the ranges; light winds apart from coastal sea breezes. Westland: Moderate northwesterlies developing in the south by evening, with cloudy skies and a few showers; mild. Outlook: Brief south-west wind change likely in Canterbury; some showers in Westland, but fine elsewhere.
